Red Zone

The last day of the Tour de France has arrived and in searing heat the competitors brave the hot sun to reach their final destination.

Artists notes:
It is always a challenge to try and depict heat in paint. But in this Tour de France painting the blistering hot red road said it all, whilst the deep contrasts of the white heat reflected on the helmets of the riders and the deep shadows on their faces and fronts accentuated the sharp light. The high perspective looking down onto the riders was a challenge I couldn’t resist! This Tour de France painting is oil on linen and is finished with black linen tape to the sides with all fixings in place ready to hang.
