Heads Down

Concentration and determination is what it takes to be a winner and nobody knows that more than the intrepid competitors in the Tour de France. After 23 days and some 3500 kilometres, the home stretch is in sight. The bright sunlight slides across the paved surface of the Champs-Elysées as the riders speed their way up towards the Arc De Triomphe, the golden light throwing them into near silhouette, every last ounce of energy pushing them to their final goal.

Artists notes:
The inspiration behind this Tour de France painting was the sun on the final day. It really caught my imagination and I wanted to try and capture the light skimming across the famous cobbles of the Champs-Elysées and the speed and movement of the riders. This work is oil on linen and is finished with black linen tape to the sides with all fixings in place ready to hang.
