In the hazy yellow light of a summer evening, the last embers of the dying heat envelope the Pont d’Aquitaine and surrounding trees in a rosy glow. Detail is lost and the silhouetted form of the bridge appears to rise towards a cooler sky. From here the bridge seems deserted and only the leggy streetlights appear to stride regimentally across its span.
Artist’s notes:
The near monochrome colour scheme allowed an emphasis on structure shape and form; the vertical lines dividing and slicing the canvas into a separate parts, whilst to the right a wild foliage invades the open space.
