Over the Hills and Far Away

Returning from a late afternoon walk, this view of the beautiful vineyards at Monbazillac opened out before me and I just knew I would have to paint it. There was just something about how the land lay; that steep slope down and the fields rising up towards the golden light of the sun on the other side. The glowing red and oranges in the trees, so beautifully juxtaposed with the mint and lavender hues of the distant landscape, really inspired me.
